On November 12th 2021, Law School Student and Cornelius and Collins Receptionist, Kaymi Butler, received the Leadership in Diversity Award on behalf of her non-profit Black Lemonade. Kaymi was presented this award by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke of Evansville, Indiana, Kaymi’s hometown and where she held Black Lemonade’s first ever diverse summer camp. Black Lemonade was founded in June of 2020, by Kaymi, in response to the indifference in the world. The quote “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” is what inspired their mission. Black Lemonade is pushing forward in expanding its efforts to serve underserved communities and hopes to make the same impact in Nashville.
