Boy Scouts of America’s Troop 31 is setting historical records for membership, community service and Eagle Scout advancement. Founded in 1920, Troop 31 is recognized as one of the largest and oldest Boy Scout Troops in Tennessee, and is chartered at St. George’s Episcopal Church in West Nashville. The Troop serves over 125 registered Boy Scouts and families from over 15 schools across the Midstate area, providing year-round youth development and leadership training to boys ages 10-18. Through numerous outreach efforts and community service projects, Troop 31 annually provides over 1000 collective hours of community service and tens of thousands of dollars of facilities improvements to local charities, schools, churches and not-for-profit community organizations in need.

On January 7, 2018 Troop 31 honored eleven new Eagle Scouts in a special Eagle Court of Honor at the Middle Tennessee Council’s Beaman-Curb Conference Center.  This was the largest single-semester class of Eagle Scouts in Troop 31 history, bringing the recorded total of Troop 31 Eagles to 354 since the Troop’s inception almost 100 years ago.

Cornelius & Collins partner Joe Wheeler has served as Assistant Scoutmaster and later as Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 31, since 2006.  Wheeler said, “We are thrilled for the wonderful accomplishments of these fine young men, and so thankful for the opportunity of working alongside such outstanding young leaders. They truly are the hope and promise for our country’s future, and will become the next generation of leaders in our schools, workplaces and communities.”
